That may sound a bit boastful, apologies if it does. We do have rather a good selection of jewellery with aquamarines so hopefully you will find some great gifts
Lets start with Zodiac jewellery. For most of March it will fall under Pisces, but towards the end it moves to Aries. Don’t get caught out and just ask if you aren’t sure.
We have some delicate charm necklaces in silver, rose gold or gold vermeil. You can add an aquamarine or just have the charms. There are so many variations hopefully you will find the perfect necklace
Then there is the personalised birthstone range. These have a main pendant, such as a star, open heart, tree of life or 4 leaf clover. It comes with a March birthstone and an initial charm. But you can always add further letter and birthstone charms. Perhaps you would like to give her a family tree necklace with all the familys birthstones one. Any option you would like we can do
Bracelets can be a bit tricky to give as gifts. Women tend to be either a bracelet person or not. If you know here well and have seen her wear bracelets then you will be ok
Just recently lockets have been the most popular of out birthstone range. Luckily there are quite a few to choose from. There are modern teardrops, hearts in 3 sizes and finishes, a decorative celtic heart and the classic silver circle locket.
You don’t have to go for a gemstone birthstone, there are swarovski crystals in aquamarine as well. If you like any piece of jewellery on Bish Bosh Becca that has a Swarovski crystal, we can change it for an aquamarine coloured one.
You probably don’t need to buy any Christening or Baptism gifts for a little girl born in March. For the sake of completeness I did want to mention them.
These are not only suitable for Christening or Baptism gifts, they will make a lovely present for a little girl for her March birthday, or indeed any woman who prefers smaller delicate jewellery
Birthstones: The main stone is Diamond with Rock crystal as its modern (cheaper!) alternative. additional ones are Topaz, Aquamarine, Jasper and Heliotrope.
The symbol of the ram is based on the Chrysomallus, the flying ram that provided the Golden Fleece (think Jason and the Argonauts)
Naturally I think Arians are brilliant whilst recognising my own impulsive nature at the same time. We can’t all be perfect!
The very first Sign of the Zodiac is Aries. I am not sure why we start with Aries at the 1st, maybe its because the Romans initially considered March the 1st month of the year (but thats a whole new blog- What did the Romans ever do for us…..) And, funnily enough, the ones born under this Sign consider themselves as the first. Luckily I am the eldest so in that respect I did come 1st!
Arians exhibit energy and dynamism, and with their innate charisma, they are often able to convince and lead people effortlessly. The Zodiac Sign Aries is found to be compatible with the Signs Sagittarius, Leo, Aquarius and Gemini (Leo is the best suited among others, as a partner for Aries). In relationships, it is often found that the Aries partner is a loving and loyal one.
courageous and friendly that they are, the Aries can become extraordinary
leaders, provided they learn to be diplomatic and patient. After all, it takes
a lot of focus to to be a great leader. In fact, since Aries have a tendency to
keep experimenting, which may lead them to get into wrong places, they should
figure out what’s best for them right in the beginning.
Active, fiery Aries also have a tendency to bite off more than they can chew. Before taking something apart, they don’t stop to wonder if they can put it back together. Besides, they constantly require others to motivate them to get going and do their best, and when they don’t get it, they blame others for not being supportive and encouraging. But the fact is, it is an excuse for their own idleness and unwillingness to find a driving force.
Famous Arians include Leornado Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Raphael, Maya Angelo, Nancy Pelosi, Elton John, Jackie Chan, to name a few. And I am delighted to say I was born on the same day as Mary Berry!
I know you do already know this but Bish Bosh Becca does sell just the Aries Zodiac charms as well as lockets, necklaces and bracelets. So hopefully there will be something for all budgets and occasions. Then you can create the perfect keepsake gift for that special Aries woman.
I hope you liked finding out a bit about Aries and that there was some nugget of information you didn’t know, evenif it’s that my birthday is the same as Mary Berrys.
What does Pisces mean? The Pisces sign is represented by two Fish tied together, yet swimming in opposite directions. The zodiac symbol represents the duality of the Pisces personality. Pisces people are said to live in two different worlds; reality and fantasy and their zodiac symbol represents exactly that. The symbol of Pisces is associated with religion and the circle of life. The fish encapsulate the chain of human evolution from vertebrae to men.
Pisces dates: February 20 to March 20 Pisces strong points: Tactical, tenacious Pisces qualities: Coherence, belligerence Pisces faults: Aggressive Gems: Sapphire, Aquamarine Pisces planet: Neptune Pisces element: Water Colour: Blue Metal: Zinc Corresponding Body Parts: Feet
symbol of the fish is derived from the Ichthyocentaurs (a pair of centaurine
sea-gods with the upper bodies of men, the lower fore-quarters of horses, and
the serpentine tails of fish. Their brows were crowned with a pair of
lobster-claw horns. They were called Bythos (Sea-Depths) and Aphros
helped Aphrodite when she was born from the sea. Most mortals would run a mile
when confronted by such beasts!
astrological symbol shows the two fishes captured by a string, typically
by the mouth or the tails. The fish are usually portrayed swimming in
opposite directions; this represents the duality within the Piscean nature.
They are ruled by the planet Neptune.
According to one Greek myth, Pisces represents the fish, sometimes represented by koi fish, into which Aphrodite (aka Venus) and her son Eros (aka Cupid) transformed in order to escape the monster Typhon, the “father of all monsters,” had been sent by Gaia to attack the gods, which led Pan to warn the others before himself changing into a goat-fish and jumping into the Euphrates. A similar myth, one in which the fish “Pisces” carry Aphrodite and her son out of danger
myth is that an egg fell into the Euphrates river. It was then rolled to the
shore by fish. Doves sat on the egg until it hatched, out from which came
Aphrodite. As a sign of gratitude towards the fish, Aphrodite put the fish into
the night sky. Because of these myths, the Pisces constellation was also known
as “Venus et Cupido,”
Bringing you into slightly more modern times. In the January 1970 edition of the Avengers the supervillain group Zodiac introduced the member “Pisces” whose abilities allowed him to live underwater, which included fins, scales, and gills.
Pisces is a Water sign, meaning they areknown for their empathy. Similar to Cancer and Scorpio, the Pisces personality is generally more complex than others. As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces traits are a mixture of the eleven precedent signs. Hence why the Pisces personality is so complex and layered.
Imaginative, These natives are very creative and imaginative, and they can think abstract and come up with out-of-the-box ideas. Their powers of imagination can help them scale great heights.
Kind, They are very soft people who will treat others exactly as they want others to treat them.
Compassionate, The people born under this Sign are always in a helpful mood. As they can feel for others, they always sympathise with others and try to help them out.
Intuitive, They are very intuitive. More than rational reasoning, facts and figures, they rely on their intuition while taking a decision.
Sensitive, Affectionate and gentle, they are very sensitive. If there is a setback, it affects them deeply, and they develop extreme feelings regarding the matter.
Selfless, A Fish will go out of his way to help others. However, their selfless deeds may not always be recognised by others.
(hey we all have our bad points so cut them some slack!)
Escapist, They tend to be escapists. When things go wrong, they will blame it on their bad luck or something else and avoid dealing with it fair and square.
Idealistic, They are very fussy about how things should be. Since they are very idealistic, sometimes even the best work can seem mediocre to them.
Weak-willed, They get hurt and demoralised very easily. Even with all the talent and resources they possess, their low self-esteem becomes a hindrance in their path.
Over-sensitive, The Fish tend to make a mountain out of a molehill. They take everything to heart and become emotional in the extremes.
Pessimistic, If things don’t turn out as per their expectations, the Fish can lose the motivation to carry on. They tend to look at the negative side more than the positive side of things
Lazy, The Fish can be very lazy about things that don’t matter to them. Their enthusiasm and energy levels last only for a short time
So there you go, Pisceans in a nutshell. So if you are struggling to find her the perfect gift whether it be for a christening or birthday, do have a look and see if you can find then a present they will cherish. x
There is so much history and folklore connected with Sapphires I could go on for ever. But in an attempt to keep it short here are the highlights.
The name sapphire is derived from the Latin word “saphirus” and the Greek word “sapheiros,” both meaning blue. Although some believe that the name sapphire is derived from its association with the planet Saturn. The name can be roughly be translated to mean “dear to the planet Saturn” in many different languages.
Sapphire is one of the two gem-varieties of corundum. Although blue is the best-known sapphire colour, they occur in others, including grey and black, and they can be colourless. A pinkish orange variety of sapphire is called padparadscha. However they can never be red, otherwise they would be rubies.
Cultures all around the world have revered the gorgeous blue sapphire as a sacred stone. Ancient Greeks wore this gemstone at Delphi when meeting with the oracle to seek knowledge about their future. Ancient Indians offered the sapphire to the gods to curry favor and align their astrological fortunes. In medieval times, the sapphire represented celestial holiness and faith. The sapphire gemstone also has significant meaning in the Bible. It is believed that the commandments were engraved on tablets of sapphire. (either they had very small writing, macro technology or that was one impressive sapphire!) Buddhists also revere the sapphire as a calming presence that facilitates prayer, meditation and spiritual enlightenment.
Handy tip- You can tell whether it is a genuine sapphire by taking your sapphire and breathing on it to fog it up. Count how long it takes for the fog to start fading and how long until the fog is totally gone. Natural gems should clear up in just one or two seconds, but created sapphires may take closer to five seconds to clear up.
As well as being the birthstone for September, it is also the traditional gift for a 45th wedding anniversary, whereas a sapphire jubilee is 65 years.
When I got thinking about restarting the blog, I thought I would start with the Zodiac star sign of Cancer. Well we have just moved into that star sign today.
If you have read any of our product descriptions you will know that I love the history and mythology behind gemstones. I hope you find this information as fascinating as I do. In fact I hope you love it as much as you love our Cancer and ruby jewellery!
Buckle up ‘cos I am starting with mythology
In Greek mythology the story of Cancer the Crab is said to be connected to Heracles, Some storytellers say that during Heracles’ fight with The Hydra, the goddess Hera sent a crab from a swamp to snap at Heracles’ toes because Hera had sworn to kill Heracles. (These Greek Gods and Goddesses could be quite vengeful!) Heracles was able to kill the crab by smashing its shell with his foot. As a reward for its efforts serving her, Hera placed the crab in the sky and it became Cancer.
In ancient times, Cancer was known as the “dark sign” because of the obscured visibility of its constellation in the night sky.
Cancer (♋️) is the fourth sign of the Zodiac for those born between the 21st June and 22nd July, ruby is their birthstone.
It is a cardinal water sign. Represented by the crab, this oceanic crustacean seamlessly weaves between the sea and shore, representing Cancer’s ability to exist in both emotional and material realms. They are highly intuitive and highly sensitive to their environments, as well as extremely self-protective. Much like their celestial spirit animal, Cancerians are shielded by hard, external shells. At first, these crabs may be perceived as cold or distant. With time, though, Cancerians reveal their gentle nature, genuine compassion, and mystical capabilities. Just don’t be surprised if it takes a while to get to know them.
Cancer is ruled by the moon, the celestial body that represents comfort and maternal energies. Accordingly, Cancerians tend to be domestically oriented. They love to create cozy, safe spaces that serve as their personal sanctuaries, then spend lots of time in them. They care deeply about their families and are quick to adopt caregiver roles. Basically Cancerians are hard on the outside but all heart on the inside!
