Goth Maternity Shoot

This is very different from my usual photo shoot and I did have to think outside the box.

But this is the wonderful thing about collaborating with other creatives on shoots that are outside what you usually think you do. Who thought I would be in a postition to contribute to this gothic beauty’s shoot and provide jewellery that would add the final finishing touch so beautifully!

It was all about seeing my jewellery in a different way and realising that is it very versatile and can be worn no matter what your style is

The sentiment behind this shoot is really quite wonderful.
Hayley Gell Photography wanted to create this shoot for her sister, who was 34 weeks pregnant at the time.
She wanted to give her something she would look back on and remember this moment and feel happier with the changes she was going through.
To make her feel empowered and beautiful. I think she definately acheived that objective.

It was an amazing and awe inspiring shoot, and one I was delighted to have contributed to.

You can find all the jewellery that was used on this shoot using this link

I create the back drop lariat in black especially for the shoot so I do need to get my skates on and take some nice images of it so I can add it to Bish Bosh Becca

Star Signs of the Zodiac- Cancer

When I got thinking about restarting the blog, I thought I would start with the Zodiac star sign of Cancer. Well we have just moved into that star sign today.

All Bish Bosh Becca jewellery is sent out gift wrapped free of charge

If you have read any of our product descriptions you will know that I love the history and mythology behind gemstones. I hope you find this information as fascinating as I do. In fact I hope you love it as much as you love our Cancer and ruby jewellery!

Buckle up ‘cos I am starting with mythology

In Greek mythology the story of Cancer the Crab is said to be connected to Heracles, Some storytellers say that during Heracles’ fight with The Hydra, the goddess Hera sent a crab from a swamp to snap at Heracles’ toes because Hera had sworn to kill Heracles. (These Greek Gods and Goddesses could be quite vengeful!) Heracles was able to kill the crab by smashing its shell with his foot. As a reward for its efforts serving her, Hera placed the crab in the sky and it became Cancer.

In ancient times, Cancer was known as the “dark sign” because of the obscured visibility of its constellation in the night sky.

Cancer (♋️) is the fourth sign of the Zodiac for those born between the 21st June and 22nd July, ruby is their birthstone.

It is a cardinal water sign. Represented by the crab, this oceanic crustacean seamlessly weaves between the sea and shore, representing Cancer’s ability to exist in both emotional and material realms. They are highly intuitive and highly sensitive to their environments, as well as extremely self-protective. Much like their celestial spirit animal, Cancerians are shielded by hard, external shells. At first, these crabs may be perceived as cold or distant. With time, though, Cancerians reveal their gentle nature, genuine compassion, and mystical capabilities. Just don’t be surprised if it takes a while to get to know them.

Cancer is ruled by the moon, the celestial body that represents comfort and maternal energies. Accordingly, Cancerians tend to be domestically oriented. They love to create cozy, safe spaces that serve as their personal sanctuaries, then spend lots of time in them. They care deeply about their families and are quick to adopt caregiver roles. Basically Cancerians are hard on the outside but all heart on the inside!
